Not too far from the Aranaz Common Room, though few people know where to find it, is one of the treasures of the College - a monument to the original King Aranaz, whose service in the long-ago conflict against the dragons was (in the College's eyes) unfairly treated in the history books, in favor of the rather more showy High King Durand. The Mallen-Star sculpture, then, represents a symbol of triumph taken by Durand that was rightly Aranaz's.
At least, that's what Professor von Rupprecht would tell you.
Unsurprisingly, Durand students frequently try to deface the thing, while Aranaz students often volunteer to stand guard over it. It's a symbol of one of those little conflicts that make life around the school so interesting and stressful.

Guard the Mallen-Star[]
As a member of College Aranaz, you are entitled and encouraged to stand watch over the Mallen-Star sculpture, protecting it from attackers from Durand and other hostile Colleges. The task's rewards are...mixed; you'll definitely gain 1 point of Stress with a chance (2 in 13) to get another. You might also gain a Step in Dedication (3 in 13 chance), Patience (2 in 13 chance), Wit (1 in 13 chance), Scouting (1 in 13 chance) or Observation (4 in 13 chance). What you'll definitely earn is a 1 point Expansion to your relationship with a random fellow Aranaz student, and with Professor von Rupprecht - who, for all his faults, respects service to the College.
