Girars is a painfully thin young man. Despite the fact that vegetables can be scarce, especially in the winter, he has sworn not to eat any meat, never mind that King Morvidus himself was not opposed to feasting on the animals that had ridden with him as companions in battle. For a young man who seems so opposed to the violence involved in hunting animals, he seems very angry. Girars is always quick to start an argument preaching about the evils of meat and the virtues of magic over hunting.
Girars is a vegetarian with an edge. Ever since he was old enough to realize that he was eating defenseless animals, he has sworn off consuming animal flesh of any sort. In particular, he was raised upon the pseudo-mystical legends of St. Alamanda of the Merorna Wood, and the Wizard Kennevy, who learned a way to sustain himself through magic alone. He intends to show that magic is both less cruel and more healthy than the product of hunting.
